Have Your Say
It’s that time again.
Those of you who have been reading my musings for more than a few months—especially those of you who have been here since the beginning in July 2005—know that I like your input.
Twice in the past year and a half I have sought your advice on what to include in my “best of” list. You can see the results now, over there in the sidebar under my profile, subscription info, and visitor count. ----->
Since the last time I added items to the list, with your assistance, I’ve posted about 35 essays about music, movies, and strange goings on in the U.S. and around the world.
I’d like you to help me update my greatest hits.
At the end of this post, you’ll see links to several posts that your feedback indicate are among the best of my last five months. Please look at these posts to refresh your memory (or read them for the first time, if you are new to the site). Leave a comment identifying the two or three stories from these links (or not) that you enjoy the most.
Thanks for your thoughts. I look forward to your comments.
From July: Rock, Paper, Scissors and Me, Myself, and My iPod.
From August: … And (Delayed) Justice for All and Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire.
From September: What Are Words For?.
From October: Musical Notes and It’s Elemental.
From November: Fantasy Island and Killing Us (Not So) Softly.
Vote early and vote often!

I'll give this some consideration and pick 3 over the next couple of days if that's O.K. with you David
Sounds great, Ben. I will appreciate your effort on this!

Wow, such a tough decision. I reviewed these links and have come up with:
Me, Myself and My iPod (you probably guessed I would pick that one) AND What Are Words For?
I'll come back to see what others choose.
I vote for Musical Notes and Fantasy Island. Can I do that, vote for 2? haha :)
I'm thinking that you should do more of a "Greatest Hits" thing, with one or two of what you feel are your bests posts, and eight more that nobody liked.
I liked Musical notes, Killing us (not so) softly and Me, myself and my ipod.
I loved Where There's Smoke, There's Fire, What Are Words For, Musical Notes, and Killing Us (Not So) Softly--you hit the nail on the head with that one in particular!! Tough call as always though :)
This is an easy one...
My favorite from the lot has to be "What Are Words For?"
I hope you also do your "Best and Worst Of..." for 2006, like you did last December. That was a great list.
Choosing between your children again David?
Here's my votes:
Me, Myself, and My iPod ~ for the trip down memory lane. I to was once that young man making the big switch to CD's. The equation worked like this ~ Sony's CDP-101 was on sale for $950 and I worked as a busboy for $50 a night (average). So with tax that was 20 nights work for my first on the block CD player.
It was a good investment ~ there were only a few CDs out back then, so once I had all available Pink Floyd and Rush albums, I took chances with "unknown" (to me) artists like Peter Gabriel and Talking Heads. My life has never been the same. Those were the days....
And for a runner up ~ Where There's Smoke, There's Fire. I'm still pissed about that s^%t.
Looking forward to another year.
1. Me Myself and My Ipod
2. And (Delayed) Justice For All
3. Fantasy Island
My top two are: "What are Words For," followed by "Where There's Smoke, There's Fire"
Here are the votes so far:
My iPod: 4
Words: 4
Musical Notes: 3
Smoke: 3
Fantasy Island: 2
Killing Us: 2
Justice: 1
X Dell: Good idea! I'll sell millions of albums!
Phoenix: I probably will, but I haven't really given it any thought yet. That's what the holiday break is for.
GW: Great story!

Man, I hate picking since they're all so clever. Is there an 'all of the above" selection? Hmm...
Top 2, I would say, would be Fantasy Island and Me, Myself, and My iPod.
Must be the end o'year retrospective time. Ye gads! I'll be back.
I like "It's Elemental" because it's chemical & I like chemistry.
BTW I think it should be named Pelosium.
Upon reviewing the links, I found rock,paper,scissors,...And Delayed Justice for All, and It's Elemental to be the most witty. I will say, however, that I enjoy most of your writing.
I vote for Me, Myself and My iPod. Any post that mentions Michael Bolton and NKOTB is worth taking a second look at:)
I am voting for:
Where there's smoke, there's fire.
It's Elemental.
Killing Us (Not So) Softly.
Well, I'll certainly be adding Me, Myself, and My iPod and What Are Words For? to the greatest hits list. And maybe a couple of others. Thank you for your input--I appreciate it!
