Lend Me a Hand
Almost six months ago, I asked you (if you were around then) to help me create a “best of” list. You can see the results now, over there to the right -->
Since then, I’ve posted about 40 essays, concert reviews, and other stories. And it’s high time for you to help me update my greatest hits collection.
At the end of this post, you’ll see links for what I’ve been told are among the best in the last five months. Take a few minutes today to look at these posts to refresh your memory. Please add a comment here identifying the two or three from this list—or from others not on this list—that you enjoy the most.
I’ll gladly exchange links with you if you leave a comment with your opinion. And if I already have your link up, well … then I’ll give you a big virtual pat on the back.
Without further ado, here are some candidates. I look forward to your comments!
From February: Here Comes the Bribe and A Marriage for the Dogs.
From March: Trial by Liar and Welcome to Hotel Caloriefornia.
From April: Yellow Fever.
From May: INXS: In Concert, Where in the World Is …, and The Days of Our Lives.
From June: Loose Lips Sink Planes.
Vote early and vote often. Gracias.

I have to go with the "Where in the World is..." and "A Marriage for the Dogs," and not just for the post names.
I'm kinda partial to "Days of Our Lives",
second choice would be "Trial by Liar".
BTW.. I'm going to be re-starting my blog over the weekend. As soon as I get it set up, I'll let you know.
I like the INXS on and the hotel Caloriefornia, the best.
Daveeed, since you already have my main blog linked here I would ask that add Layla's Classic Rock Faves. I've finally been posting there again.

I picked three:
Yellow Fever
Hotel Caloriefornia
Loose Lips
Here's my new addy...

Oh it's so hard to choose. I love them all. But I'll have to say that I like Hotel Caloriefornia, Loose Lips Sink Planes, and A Marriage for the Dogs -- just for its puns. :-)
My FAV is A Marriage for the Dogs. Second place goes to Loose Lips.
Great work David, it was hard to pick!
"Trial By Lawyer" is my favorite...I laughed outloud when you called Milosevic "Serbie the Love Thug" and then Kim Jong a "cute little Monchichi."
Classic.
Wow, I voted for the first round of favorites the first go-around...time flies.
(I'm ready for my virtual pat on the back now).
I liked Trial by liar, Welcome to the Hotel Caloriefornia and Here comes the bribe.
They're all good, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Trial By Liar.
Happy 4th, David!
Amy
happy 4th, I vote for loose lips sink planes...
Tough call, David.
Ummm...I guess I'd pick "Hotel Caloriefornia". I guess because, not only was it a great post but it stuck in my mind because I would be HORRIFIED if I had to pay per pound.
I remember enjoying Trial By Liar. But then again I'm sure I enjoyed them all! :)
Well, you certainly write some good titles.
My favorite out of the list is, Don't Come Around Hear No More."
You simply can't go wrong with irritatingly nebulous pop song lyrics. And the smug way everyone who knows the "real" lyric corrects you, like you aren't cool enough to join the club of people who "got" the original stupid lyric.
And, often times, the misheard lyric "makes" the song; most famously in "Louie Louie" but also in Gene Vincent's "Lotta Lovin'" and numerous other examples.
not voting, but just wanted to say hello. I read your last couple of posts... congrats on the writing gig. But I am sorry, I thought you tried to offend people not by mere style, nor substance, but by wearing those black leather pants 365 days a year...
Tough to choose because all are impressive, but my first pick would be A Marriage for the Dogs, second would be Trial by Liar.
Easy peasy!
Loose Lips Sink Planes - The image I had of you rolling into a foetal position and I'm certain counting the number of seats to the nearest exit..that had me in stitches!! Of course, in my mind, you were the ONLY ONE to do so. Even funnier.
A close second would be INXS - As previously commented, gecko and smoothie?? LMAO!
Encore encore!
GG
The Days of Our Lives and Here Comes The Bribe.
I liked your take on the pay by weight scheme so I will have to say 'Hotel Caloriefornia. And I would luv to hear Ahnold's pronunciation on your punny title.
Hey David,
I've been out of the blog-iverse lately, finishing up that much talked about, but seldom completed move. Yes, it's finally done!
My favorite post? I can see why you ask your readers, it's a bit like picking your favorite child. It is... easier if someone else points it out. At risk of displaying my innate and overly political geekiness, I love "Yellow Fever". In the same vain, "Welcome to the Hotel Caloriefornia" is another good one. It reminds me of some of the pages of "Breakfast of Champions" by Kurt Vonnegut (one of my favorite books). That is complementary!
Thanks one and all for your comments and votes. I'll be getting the new links up today and will work on the updated "Greatest Hits" list, too.
I appreciate your input!

I'm probably too late to participate, but I definitely liked Here Comes the Bribe, Hotel Caloriefornia, and Where in the World Is...
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this (I've been quite busy lately)-- but here goes:
I liked Here Comes the Bribe and Where in the World Is ... the most out of all the posts you mentioned. Not that I didn't like the rest-- I did, but those two really stuck out.
Loose lips is listed first! Does that mean it topped the poll?? Whoopee!
Many thanks again for all the input. With the late entries, I may also add Here Comes the Bribe and/or Where in the World Is ...
GG: Sorry, that one's only on top because it's the most recent. But if you want to pretend it's due to your vote, I'm OK with that.

Thanks, David! You've read my shallow mind.

1. yellow fever
2. where in the world is...
ur writing rocks!!
Hey, I'm back.
I will vote. But this is a tuffy.
I'm gonna go with Here Comes the Bribes. I still like Where in the World Is... and the others, but I'm just gonna go with my first giggles and say the Bribes.
There. I hope I've done my duty. And you know what? I should really come up with one of these Best Of lists. Since that might give someone a little something to read when I disappear for a while.
I'll try to swing by again soon...
